Description

This property is located in Fene, in the district called Ferrolterra, in A Coruña. Fene is very close to a beautiful coastal village, Redes. You can get there walking along a path all the time by the seashore if you like. It is approximately 1.5 km. 2 km from the property, is Cabañas de Pontedeume. We emphasize that this is an exclusive area where there are very large high-level properties. The property that we will describe next is very unique. It is a group of buildings that, in the 18th century, were a religious space. There was the parish church, the corresponding rectory, where the parish priest resided, and various auxiliary buildings. There was also a mill, bread oven, barns … And, of course, a stone cross (cruceiro) that still presides over the whole. Let’s see what they are today.

Home

The old chapel that today is this restored house is from 1788. It has two floors with two open spaces in each one. On the ground floor, there is a kitchen-dining room with a porch terrace from which you can see the whole property and all the surroundings. The upper floor is a beautiful open space with a small terrace that looks like a pulpit. Here there is a beautiful double bedroom with bathroom. And a closet that could be a dressing room but that in itself could be for another bedroom. The approximate total area is 100 m2.

From the house, you can see the sea. The access to the beach is about 300 m from the house. There are different paths to the water in the surroundings. The house is completely independent but it is not isolated. Next door is the priest’s corner of thinking about, the neighbours told us that the sea could be seen from hear before there was so much grown vegetation…

The rectory of Fene

In the rectory house, which is now to be restored, it should be earlier than possibly 1700, everything has to be worked on: from the floors to the ceiling. It consists of two floors plus a low deck. This rectory could also be used as a dwelling. In total, they would be around 240 m² of a surface. It has a large room with lareira the old Galician kitchen. Two bedrooms. A diaphanous space where the priest had the wafers. And on the top floor, a diaphanous attic in which the height would have to be raised a little.

One can still guess an entrance for the carriages with a door that is much larger than the one it has today, and one of the windows on the transept looks like a balcony.

Next to the house, there is a semicircular area with stone slabs. It is believed that priests used to make their feasts here when there was a burial. Apparently, it was with a roof before; it is now discovered, but since it is a developable estate, it could be reorganized or built here.

The land

The terrain is terraced on four levels. It has an enclosure with a stone wall of 2 to 3 m and very nice stone stairs. It has an area of more than 4,000 m2. In addition to the old chapel of 100 m2 and the rectory,  there is an outdoor stone oven and a haystack used to store tools. And another building that is underground from the back, where the firewood is stored. The property also has a small mill on the farm itself. This mill has one pond in which, in springtime, all the water of the river enters. As a curiosity, to say that -in the past- neighbours came here to wash carpets or large clothes. On the farm there is also a lake artificially built and supplied with water from the river that passes by. The property has water and electricity. The water comes from the municipal network.

A property located less than 500 m from the beach. In the most sought after area of the Galician coast. With the possibility of living in a house of 100 m2 from the 18th century, while other magnificent stone buildings of the time are being restored … It is a luxury and an opportunity to live in a unique place or to create a small tourist business of great level.
