Description
Where the rivers Miño and Sil meet, in Os Peares, Lugo, surrounded by the marvelous Ribeira Sacra and its millenary vineyards, is this old 18th century stone mill, the Molino de Vao, which worked to grind grain with the strength from the waters of the Bubal River, to whose bank it is located. Today it has become a comfortable and pleasant rural hotel, equipped with all the comforts that you can expect from a modern home or a tourist business.
It has an area of 200 square meters built, distributed over two floors. It has an area of land and garden of approximately 1,200 m2 and retains the installation of the old mill, which can be admired in the dining room, it being possible to observe still its turbine submerged in the water through a glass window in the floor of the mill. As a rural hotel, it has three large double bedrooms, each with its own bathroom en suite. A large kitchen, with the traditional lareira of the Galician country houses, but also with all the necessary modern facilities. The dining room is integrated into this space, so that the feeling is of living 200 years ago, at the time when this mill was built. It also has a lounge with a library. All decorated with a classic and elegant style, full of evocative details that make the stay very pleasant.
It has heating. It also has a nice garden with fountains, a multitude of plants and trees and the channels of the mill itself that let us listen to the music of the water everywhere. In the garden, there is parking space for three cars.
Os Peares is a privileged place of Galician geography. Between the provinces of Lugo and Ourense, in the middle of the Galician Romanesque area and the “Heroic Viticulture” that the Romans implanted when this land was Hispania, with possibilities of practicing many recreational activities, from fishing to the tour of the wineries of the area or the picturesque villages of the riverbanks. The interest and tourist potential of Os Peares and its surroundings are undeniable.
