This house in Viveiro, Lugo, is one of the best colonial houses in Galicia. Possibly, only surpassed by the Torre de los Morenos in Ribadeo. It was built in 1927 by an emigrant returned from Cuba where he made his fortune with silks. As an anecdote, to design his ties of men, he came to pay 30,000 pesetas of that time… to Salvador Dalí!
It consists of 3 floors of 300 m2 each plus a basement: a total of 1,200 m2 approximately. The property has more than 10,000 m2 of gardens, with its own jetty on the river. The house has seven bedrooms and the possibility of making 5 more.
From bottom to top. It has four outdoor access doors on the ground floor. This consists of a functional kitchen and a pantry. Also, a place to store cleaning supplies. In addition, a small dining room adjoining the kitchen. An incredible hall completely decorated with cherry wood. It also has an office. And a room that won the European Decoration Award in 1929. It is connected to another room that gives access to a beautiful gallery, all outside logically. The stairs are a luxury. Mahogany wood handrail and the rest of cedar wood.
We went up to the first floor. We found six bedrooms, one of them is double and the rest could be double beds. The master bedroom has a built-in gallery. Two of the rooms directly overlook the entire outside gallery that surrounds the house. There is also a very useful dressing room. And a beautiful and spacious old bathroom easily restored and fully functional. In the hallway, made of noble wood, a large wardrobe completely in tune with every detail of this spectacular Viveiro house.
The second floor consists of six open rooms at this time. It has a surface equal to the first floor.
The basement has the same surface as the other floors. Here is a place for refrigerators, a large garage, a storage space for bicycles and a toilet with a changing room. There is also an office, a kitchen with lareira (the typical Galician wood stove) and the room where the gas oil boiler is located. From here you can access a beautiful porch with benches that allow us to sit and admire the beauty of the splendid garden.
The condition of the property is excellent … you have to see it to believe it.
