If one can visualise a Pazo in the heart of the Ribeira Sacra, a few minutes walk from the Aguasasantas spa and a stone’s throw from the golf course. It is this one.
It is a magical place for its views over the valley from where you can see Asturias and Galicia. It is also an architectural jewel that was built before the discovery of America. Around 1490. Since then it has always been in the hands of the same family.
It has a wine cellar whose back wall is made of live rock, it is dated 1490 and keeps the wine in perfect condition. It is oriented to the North like all the wineries in the area.
In the garden which is divided into several areas we have:
Lime tree forest where there is a table for 8 diners; Plum tree area where there is a table for 4 with views of the Lemos valley; Barbecue area; Zacuzi area where there is room for 6 people, where the area is lit at night. A small hexagonal temple.
On entering the house, which consists of several parts, at the main entrance the building on the left has had its roof repaired.
The Pazo consists of two floors:
On the first floor there is a Galician living room with its heat source: A large granite fireplace with a wrought iron cooker.
Then we have the library where many houses will remain but the owners will take some of them (they are on the list of things to take).
From there you go to the Salita Balkanica: a very pleasant sitting room with a wonderful cooker which gives the place its name (designed by Leonardo Davinci) and can be connected to the heating if you wish.
The next room is a dining room for 8 to 10 people. On the same floor there is a fully equipped kitchen, consisting of the typical Bilbaína which can also be connected to the heating for the whole house. Following the corridor there is a complete bathroom and three bedrooms, one double and two singles.
On the ground floor there is a splendid double bedroom with en-suite bathroom and the unique oriental lounge. From there we go to the kitchen with access to the garden.
The property has two wells, one with an auger and a vegetable garden irrigation ditch which is shared with a neighbour. It is over 200 years old and is made of stone and the water springs from the stone. The Pazo also has 8 solar panels which considerably reduces your electricity bill.
