This lovely stone hamlet is located in Santo Xusto, next to Palas de Rei, Lugo. It is a town located near the Castle of Pambre, a fortress of the fourteenth century. The castle, which can be visited, was built with military custody functions of the Camino de Santiago Francés. Also close to the Pazos de A Ulloa. In addition, the Ulla River, one of the prominent salmon and trout rivers of Galicia, runs nearby.
A lovely stone hamlet in the middle of nature
The hamlet we are going to describe has two houses. One is attached to another that is not part of the property. But there is also another independent house that is included in the price. It is estimated that both houses have a minimum age of 400 years of age. As proof, one of them has a Mozarabic style entrance. However, the condition of the walls, beams and roof is excellent.
There is a lareira kitchen, the typical Galician cooker of the cottages. And on the first floor, we see windows with “parladoiros“, two seats on the sides, to look out the window or chat. The surface of the townhouse is 120 m2 for each of its two floors. In total, 240 m2. In addition, the other stone house has two floors as well and half the surface. Therefore, the property has about 360 m2 of total built area.
A lot of buildings. Many possibilities
But also, this beautiful stone hamlet has other buildings and spaces. Apart from the two beautiful houses to rehabilitate mentioned, there is a beautiful closed eira of 180 m2. This is a space of clean and firm ground, tiled of stone, adjacent to the house, which was used for different agricultural tasks. There is the typical Galician granary (horreo) and an area to work the wheat, with a higher part in stone so that the wheat does not fly. To the side, a huge circumference in stone, like a table, to place the straw.
In total the hamlet consists of two sheds with approximately 100 m2, the two houses (360 m2) and a covered space of about 40 m2, a beautiful granary and a closed eira.
The land and its possibilities
This lovely hamlet is located on a 1,088 m2 estate completely enclosed by a stone wall. Being higher than the rest of the environment, it offers spectacular views and magical sunrises and sunsets. The hamlet needs a total rehabilitation, but offers many possibilities for a business related to rest and nature given the enclave where it is located. Surrounded by green meadows, with paths between trees that lead to the river, and small nearby towns. A dream place.
